Watford in Old Photographs contains a wealth of previously unpublished photographs of the town drawn from the vast collection at Hertfordshire Archives and Local Studies.

The views show daily life in Watford in the 20th century and earlier, and we see many of the town’s historic and listed buildings before they were removed in the name of progress.  The images also depict the hustle and bustle of a bustle bust town and show many family-run businesses that have long since disappeared.  The book also shows local events, forgotten street scenes, local characters and dignitaries.

This new addition to the Britain in Old Photographs series encapsulates a period that is fast disappearing into history, when life was much harder but lived at a slower pace.
