Description
The Manor of Park in the Fourteenth Century
Extracted from the symposium The Peasants’ Revolt in Hertfordshire: the Rising and its Background
St Albans has been cited as ‘perhaps the only locality in England where it is possible to set the events of 1381 within a detailed context of existing manorial relationships’. The tenants of the Manor of Park extorted a shortlived charter from the abbot on June 17th. The manor was a vast one, including St Stephen’s Parish, most of St Peter’s and perhaps part of Aldenham.
