Description
This is the first properly researched account of Britain’s’ Army Cadets to be published; it appeared to coincide with the 150th Anniversary of the cadet movement.
Against the ‘national background’ of cadets from 1860 onwards the development of school (now C.C.F) and independent (now A.C.F) units in Hertfordshire is recorded from 1886, when the first local unit was formed at Haileybury.
Appendices cover legislation and the War Office instructions, cadet arms, clothing and equipment, lists of officers at various dates and officers and adult instructors who received awards for their services and there is a comprehensive bibliography and guide to sources.
Profusely illustrated with one colour plate and 240 black-and-white photographs and drawings.
