The results of surveys conducted in the Parish between 2007 and 2009. Hedgerows are a characteristic feature pf the English landscape but when did they first appear and what was their purpose? They are boundary markers, a living fence, which ensures that stock do not wander out or in, providing shelter for the animals in the fields and also for birds and insects.
This booklet includes historical background, hedgerow management, dating techniques, recording methods, details of hedges surveyed and a summary.
