- Description: Berkhamsted Union comprised the following Hertfordshire parishes: Aldbury, Great Berkhamsted, Little Gaddesden, Northchurch, Puttenham, Tring and Wigginton, together with Nettleden (Buckinghamshire until 1895) and Marsworth and Pitstone (Buckinghamshire). The Poor Law Institution in Berkhamsted, built in 1831, was known as 'Nugent House' from 1930 until its closure in May 1935.
When the functions of the Boards of Guardians passed to the County Council in 1930, the Berkhamsted Board of Guardians was succeeded by the Dacorum Guardians' Committee (see HCC37C and HSS3/4).
